How to decide on a new device
Why is it, that every time a new electronic device comes out, it makes your gadgets seem obsolete? In the early eighties, the issue was finding a decent portable tape player. Now, with the innovation of convergence, things have changed forever. Our portable devices can play music, connect to the internet, allow you to play games, open files, use notepad, tell you where to go, how to get there we and when you need to be there.

Convergence has arrived with all the advantages we have been promised. As progress marches on unabated, the rate at which new devices become outdated rises exponentially. With technology traveling at the rate of a speeding bullet, it’s easy to understand how our cool new toy today can quickly become just another paper weight.
That’s why choosing which cell phone to buy, can be a little more complicated than you would expect. You need to determine what your needs are, but also be aware of what features may be available on cell phones in the future.

With this in mind, you can figure out exactly what you need in a cell phone.
Identifying the must have features
Even though I don’t travel much at the moment, I still see the advantage of getting a phone that can be used anywhere in the world. And having Internet access makes it optimal. Why? Well, if the primary purpose for purchasing a cell phone is to stay in touch, having messaging and e-mail features are an added benefit to ensuring you stay connected.
Bear in mind that any new phone better have a reliable calling service. From my experience, call service and quality are often the last thing people look at. Living in a major metropolitan city makes this decision slightly easier, as cell phone accessibility is widespread, but if you don’t live in the city, maybe this is something you should look out for.
Mapping technology on a cell phone can also be an integral feature, especially if you do a lot of driving for a living. So, depending on what your personal and/or business needs are, they will likely have a great impact on the type of phone you choose in the end.
Larger screens for those who need GPS is another feature that can’t be overlooked.
QWERTY keyboards are yet another feature that facilitate texting and emailing. Expandable memory will be of key concern to you as well, if you want your cell phone to be your music playing device.
Determine what you need, then shop around. Do your research before you let any salesperson convince you of anything.
