A Brief History of…can you hear me now?
Things change as much as they stay the same. In a time of constant innovation, there is always some new gadget or gizmo meant to facilitate our lives, and once you finally get your hands on it, you can rest assured, that its replacement is on its way in. It isn’t hard to imagine how different communication was a hundred years ago. Still, the basic tenants of communication over time remain the same: Get your message across.
The American West was started by pioneers who themselves relied on the pony express. Writing and Gutenberg’s press paved the way for the mass marketing of communication that we often take for granted today.

Our need for communication is one that is deep rooted. From the painted pictures found on ancient cave walls, we have always been fascinated by images and communicating our experiences. Having the ability now to send our own electronic carvings to one another has an interesting impact on how much we appreciate staying in touch.
People will do whatever they can to know what’s going on in each other’s lives. The advent of text messaging has put people back in touch with the written word. Modern texting is not so unlike it’s old west cousin of Morse code. Then and now, what may be indistinguishable as words to some speaks volumes to others.

Blogs have also increased people’s means for expression and communication. Text messaging may only have a rudimentary relationship to real world language, however, you can’t overlook the power of simplicity @TEOTD (at the end of the day). After all, it’s about getting your message across.
FRIEND OF THE DEVIL
I had convinced myself that having cell phone was an evil I could avoid. Finally the day arrived when I couldn’t resist any longer. Never have I appreciated the power of the cell phone especially when it comes to staying connected in a telecommuting world.
My cell phone, along with the advantages of text messaging, are more than mere conveniences. Our world is changing. Wireless access allows us to connect to our own personal networks. The chains of a desk can no longer bind us. Textings power to provide last minute details, keeps us all a little more in the loop.
