The Language Arts

Languages: we love them or we hate them, but we’re never indifferent. This blog category on illcommunicating.com is going to cover everything from speaking in tongues to how to interpret body language (it’s actually not that tough if you’re really paying attention). Basically, this space is going to be about all sorts of communication tips. They’ll be fun, they’ll be informational and they might even be a bit risqué. Seriously, what could be sexier than the Romantic Languages?

We’ll also be exploring the differences between Cantonese and Mandarin and which one you should learn if you decide to head out to China. Of course, we’ll be funny and a bit irreverent, too. Pig Latin, for instance, will be a hot topic. Haven’t you ever wondered who it was that actually put the “pig” in Pig Latin? Speaking of Latin, what on earth ever happened to it? If you read the articles in this section, you’ll know all of these things and more. So step right up and take a peek behind the curtain.

by Dan on January 12, 2009

Anyone that has watched, or still does watch, the short comedy films of the Three Stooges is very familiar with pig Latin. The Stooges used pig Latin all the time and what they did was take the consonant from the beginning of the word, put it at the end of the word, and the stick [...]
